Texas Residents Be Advised – $1,400 Check From IRS is Legit
At the end of a long dusty driveway in Borger, Texas a man pulls his pickup truck over to grab the mail from his mailbox. In the day's correspondence, he spies what looks to be a check from the Internal Revenue Service. Can that be right?
Yes, it can be right and no matter where you get your mail, Houston, Beaumont, The Woodlands, Spring, and even Jasper, you could be getting a $1,400 check from the Internal Revenue Service in the coming weeks. And yes, it's money that you are owed and yes, you should take prompt action when the document arrives.
Believe it or not, some Americans did not take full advantage of the recovery rebate credit that was offered during the pandemic. If you filed your taxes in 2021 and overlooked this tax relief the IRS is going to make it up to you.
The recovery rebate credit was designed for those who did not get an Economic Impact Payment, or stimulus check when the government was sending checks to people to help out during the pandemic. If you didn't apply or didn't get one then, you might be getting one now and no, there is nothing extra you need to do.
You can expect the IRS to process payments by late January of 2025. The money will be sent to you via direct deposit if that's how you have your taxes set up. Or, you'll get a check in the mail. Your payment method will be determined by how you got your refund or want to get your refund in 2023.
You should also get a letter from the IRS informing you of just how much of the $1,400 you'll be getting. And if for some reason you haven't filed your 2021 taxes you may still do so and still be eligible for this stipend. You'll need to get that return filed by April 15, 2025. If you have questions you may call the IRS or consult a trusted tax professional.
