Entergy has announced that they will be doing some upgrades to their transmission system, and that means that the power will be out tonight.

Company officials say that they have coordinated with all emergency response personnel during the event.

The power outage will start at 10 o'clock tonight for the town of Welsh, and this work is also going to affect customers who get their power from the Derouen substation.

Region Manager for Entergy Chip Arnould says,

Now that we've completed the upgrades, we can switch from the temporary power feed that has been in place since March 9 and return the town to its permanent power configuration. We regret the inconvenience this outage will cause residents of Welsh and the surrounding area, but they are a necessary component of meeting our commitment to strengthen and modernize our transmission system in southwest Louisiana.

The power could be out for up to six hours.

The upgrade is costing $106 million.
