The Sun Belt gets its third P-5 win, two teams travel to the MAC and come out victorious and the first conference game of the year goes to triple overtime.

TEXAS STATE 37, GEORGIA STATE 34 (3 OT)--Jake Spavital got his first win as the Texas State head coach as Joshua Rowland's 35 yard field goal in the third overtime proved to be the game winner.  Georgia State had tied the game with a 20 yard field goal as time expired in regulation to force the extra periods.  It's the first home conference win for the Bobcats since the 2015 season.

APPALACHIAN STATE 34, NORTH CAROLINA 31--Darrynton Evans rushed for three touchdowns and junior Demetrius Taylor forced a pair of first half turnovers as App built a lead and held off the Tar Heels.  Taylor returned a fumble for a touchdown and his interception set up another score as the Sun Belt notched a third win over a Power-5 opponent.

LOUISIANA 45, OHIO 25--The Cajuns exploded with 35 points after halftime to get the victory over the MAC preseason favorite.  The 20 point win was the biggest margin of victory in a non conference road game for the Cajuns in 26 years.  Elijah Mitchell and Trey Ragas both gained over 100 yards on the ground, with Mitchell scoring three touchdowns.

TROY 35, AKRON 7--Kaleb Barker threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth as Troy scored 28 unanswered points.  Troy ran up 485 yards in total offense in dominating the Zips.  D. K. Billingsley rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans.

COASTAL CAROLINA 62, UMASS 28--The Chanticleers finished their non conference slate at 3-1 with the dominating win over the Minutemen.  The Chants scored 42 first half points and rolled up 636 yards of offense.  C. J. Marable went over the 100 yard mark rushing for the third straight game.

ARKANSAS STATE 41, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 28--The Red Wolves evened their record at 2-2 despite giving up 526 yards of offense.  Logan Bonner threw for four touchdowns in the win for A-State.

IOWA STATE 72, ULM 20--Brock Purdy accounted for six touchdowns as Iowa State bounced back after a tough loss to Iowa with the dominating win.  Purdy threw for three scores and ran for three more.  ULM's Caleb Evans threw for two touchdowns in the loss.

UAB 35, SOUTH ALABAMA 3--It was not a good day for the Jaguars as South Alabama could only muster 190 yards of offense while giving up more than 500.  South Alabama finished their non conference slate at 1-3.
