It's down to the wire! The new school year is just days away. If you're looking to save money on school supplies, here are a few tips.

#1 Don't buy everything at once. Your child won't need an entire year worth of classroom supplies the first day. Amortize your expense buy spreading it out.

#2 Team up with another parent. Everybody has essentially the same list. Buy some things in bulk, and split it with another parent.

#3 Use the internet to match prices.

#4 Shop on tax free holidays. Fourteen states offer them. Louisiana has inexplicably done away with it this year, but some businesses are taking it upon themselves to absorb taxes on school supplies.
