‘Trombone Man’ John “The Revelator” Mills Announces He’s Back in Lafayette
The 'Trombone Man' is back in Lafayette!
Late yesterday evening, friends and fans of John "The Revelator" Mills were blessed with a video announcing that one of Acadiana's most beloved public figures had returned home.
At some point during the onset of the pandemic, people began to notice that Mills was absent from his usual spots where he would gig around the Lafayette area. Even when things began to open up, his signature trombone sound was missing from the Downtown Lafayette area.
When I lived downtown, John actually lived across the street from me, so I had the privilege of getting to know him and I honestly can't think of many more people who loved life as much as this guy.
One of the last times we saw John in town was an appearance on Live PD when the show spent of a few weeks in Lafayette.
Well, on Easter Sunday, John The Revelator dropped a video on his Facebook account announcing that he is officially back in Lafayette.
There was word that he moved to New Orleans during the pandemic, but it's great to hear that John is back in the city that he loves.
One of my favorite moments is when the kids from Dozier Elementary pulled up on John for this classic video.
After hearing rumors that John was back in town, I'm glad to see him confirm his return and I really look forward to running into him on purpose.
If you see him, make sure to tell him hello and let him know just how much we appreciate his unique charisma here in Lafayette.
