One person is dead, a dozen others were injured and about 150 homes were damaged from a twister that ripped through the Acadia Parish City of Rayne. The Acadia Parish city of Rayne is cleaning up today from a deadly tornado that killed one person, injured several others and damaged dozens of homes and buildings. An E-F Two tornado ripped through Rayne on Saturday morning. Governor Bobby Jindal surveyed the damage yesterday. A 21-year-old mother was killed when a tree came crashing through her home as she was protecting her child. Jindal says his heart goes out to the family. (Jindal says Rayne Mayor Jimbo Petitjean is working with local banks to set up a fund for folks who want to help that family out.) Hundreds of people have been displaced as a result of the twister and there's debris all over the place in the area where winds topped out at 135 mph. But Jindal is encouraged by the level of cooperation.
