Two New Iberia Attorneys Plead Guilty For Failing To File Tax Returns

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says that two New Iberia attorneys who did not file their federal tax returns have pleaded guilty to the violations.

Finley's office reports that 48-year-old James Burton and his ex-wife, 50-year-old Lucretia Burton failed to file federal returns for 2007,2008 and 2009.

The two offered general legal services and they also had an interest in a tax return preparation business. Federal returns were not filed.

The Burton's face a maximum sentence of 12 months in jail, possible probation, penalties and restitution.
