The Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team closed on the home portion of their fall schedule with a couple of wins over the weekend.

Louisiana defeated the McNeese Cowgirls on Saturday, 18-1, before downing Land Land College (Illinois), 21-3, on Sunday, at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

Multiple UL pitchers saw action in the 10-inning games, including 2019 All-American Summer Ellyson, and Megan Kleist, a 2018 All-American at Oregon, who transferred to Louisiana.

The two, who will both be seniors in 2020, combined to throw 9.1 shutout innings in Saturday's game against McNeese, with no walks and 14 strikeouts.

Ellyson, the 2019 Sun Belt Conference of the Year, started the game, tossing 4.2 shutout innings, allowing only one hit, with no walks and nine strikeouts.

Kleist twirled 4.2 shutout innings as well, allowing only one hit, while also fanning five batters.

Kandra Lamb and Madison Garay also saw time inside of the circle.

Offensively, the Cajuns were led by senior catcher Julie Rawls, who went 3-for-4, including a home run, one run scored, and five runs batted in, while sophomore Geana Tores, who transferred from Missouri, also collected three hits, while driving home two runs.

Bailey Curry, Alissa Dalton, Sarah Hudek, Callie Martin, Melissa Mayeax, and Raina O'Neal collected two hits apiece, while Curry also homered.

On Sunday, a host of Louisiana players saw time in the field and inside the circle, as they coasted to their third-straight fall win.

The Cajuns close out their fall schedule on Tuesday, October 15, when they travel to Lake Charles to face McNeese.

Louisiana went 52-6 in 2019, including a perfect 25-0 Sun Belt Conference record.
