United Way Of Acadiana There For The “Long Haul” As Flooding Worries Continue (Audio)
As flooding concerns continue throughout Acadiana, United Way of Acadiana stands tall as a pillar to a region that has already been hit hard by the harsh weather. In Lafayette Parish alone, almost 1,000 people had to be rescued from their homes, not including people who stayed in their homes as the flood waters came inside them.
“We’ve got a long haul, so by starting out with either donating some supplies or by donating financially, either way, it’s going to be put to good use and it’s going to take us pulling together as a community far and wide to make this happen,” says Margaret Trahan with United Way.
Trahan says you can make monetary donations to them, which will go towards buying items for flood victims that other places simply can’t provide. She says you can donate goods by dropping them off at their central location warehouse on 215 Pinhook Road.
Here are some of the items they need:
- buckets
- mops
- cleaning supplies
- rubber gloves
- masks
- school supplies
- socks
- underwear
