The Vatican has made its stance on same-sex unions clear.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the Catholic Church has announced they will not bless same-sex unions because God "cannot bless sin."

This may come as a disappointment to those who felt The Pope would be creating a more inviting space within the Catholic Church after comments made in late 2020 where he stated: "homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family."

The formal response from The Vatican came on Monday after a question about whether the Catholic Church can bless gay unions. The answer came in the form of a two-page explanation that was approved by Pope Francis.

According to the note, the stance from the Catholic Church is that it is "not licit" to bless same-sex unions.
