A voluntary evacuation is in effect for residents in Vermilion Parish who live in low-lying areas or in areas known to flood.
Our media partners at KATC report that there are no shelters set up in Vermilion Parish at this time, so you are urged to stay with friends or family members if you need to evacuate.
Several oil companies have begun to evacuate platforms and rigs offshore.
