Political blogger Walt Bennetti of clickjefferson.com joined 'Mornings With Ken and Bernie' today and discussed a number of things including:

  • Mitt Romney's appearance on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace
  • Sequestration - What now?
  • Senator Mary Landrieu and Senator David Vitter's stance on sequestration
  • Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne exploring Gubernatorial bid
  • Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser eying Lt. Governor's office

When asked about Mitt Romney's appearance on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace Bennetti said,

He had some valid points and I think it was a good contrast between Mitt and Ann Romney, who epitomize class and our current campaigner-in-chief and his movie star celebrity first lady.  But when he (Romney) said that the President needs to buckle down, that he passed up a golden opportunity to actually make some changes in Washington and to make changes that we would want instead of changes he, the President wants, I think it was a great point.

When asked about the effects of sequestration Bennetti replied,

The President signed the law on Friday night, we got past the fiscal cliff a month or so ago now we have another impending crisis at the end of this month then they shut down government, again...the full impact of sequestration won't be felt for several months.

In the Senate both Republicans and Democrats offered bills to avoid sequestration and Bennetti observed,

Senator David Vitter voted for the Republican bill and against the Democratic bill.  However Senator Mary Landrieu voted against both bills.

Bennetti had some insightful comments on Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne's political aspirations as well as Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser's hopes of being Lt. Governor.  You can hear those comments and more by listening to the interview:
