What Cities Are the Worst for Spring Allergies?
Finishing at the top of a list of the worst cities for allergies is nothing to sneeze at.
Or is it?
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has come out with a list ranking the most challenging cities to live in during spring allergy season.
Grab a tissue, Jackson, Mississippi, and wipe the tears and nose goblins because you lead the list this year. Jackson had finished fourth last year, but rose to first, mostly due to high pollen and the number of people who require medications to treat allergies.
The rankings were determined by looking at the 100 largest metro regions in the US and analyzing three key pieces of data, including pollen scores, the amount of allergy medications per patient and the number of allergy specialists per patient.
The list has quite the southern flavor, too, with the top three spots filled by cities from Mississippi and Tennessee. Tennessee, in fact, placed three cities on the list, proving there must be something in the water. And the air. And the trees. And the grass.
