Where Will Saints Pick In 2018 NFL Draft?
Where will the New Orleans Saints be picking in the 2018 NFL Draft?
Unfortunately, after losing to the Minnesota Vikings, 29-24, in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday in the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs, we now know the answer to that question.
The Saints are penciled in with the 27th-overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.
That draft placement became final with a heartbreaking divisional-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Positions 1-28 are official, with positions 29-32 to be determined by the outcome of the NFC/AFC Championship Games, as well as the Super Bowl.
The four divisional-round losers were assured of picking between the 25-28 spots.
The Saints, who finished 11-5 in the regular season, will select behind two of the other losing teams from the Divisional Round, the Tennessee Titans (9-7) and the Atlanta Falcons (10-6).
Picking one spot behind the Saints will be the Pittsburgh Steelers, who went 13-3 during the regular season.
Only three times in franchise history have the Saints entered the draft with the #27 pick, and only once have they ever selected a player in that spot.
In 2007, they selected receiver Robert Meachem out of Tennessee.
In 2012, the Saints surrendered the 27th-overall pick to the New England Patriots, after trading for running back Mark Ingram in 2011.
In 2014, the Saints entered the draft with the 27th-overall pick, before trading up to pick #20 to select receiver Brandin Cooks.
