Do you think of ways to not have to show up into work? Do you find yourself distant at work? Do you have feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion? Perhaps your cynicism or negativity is at an all-time high. The World Health Organization has your diagnosis, Burnout. Keep in mind this is not considered a medical condition but it is listed as an occupational syndrome. According to Dan Schawbel, a research director at HR advisory firm Future Workplace this newfound syndrome is now an “epidemic,” and it will only get worse. Burnout is a "State of vital exhaustion" according to the International Classification of Diseases. If you're feeling like you are the only person who is feeling the burnout, just know you're not alone.

Burnout is not something new, a study from 2017 reveals that this has been an ongoing problem in America. Workers and employees are feeling like they aren't being taken care of. Paywise and when it comes to vacation time. Americans normally get 10 days of vacation, but many Americans feel pressured to skip vacation days. To top it off technology has added to the burn out phenomenon, due to the fact that many of us need to respond to emails or take calls and make calls outside of the normal work hours we are paid for. It's looking like not having your phone and laptop is the real secret to vacation. Do you feel like you're burnt out?
