You Can Get Rid Of Your Old Junk March 17
Before you go to Patty in the Parc International remember that Lafayette Government is having a Debris Drop.
The annual spring fling cleanup by Lafayette Consolidated Government will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on St. Patrick's Day.
You can drop off your items at Brown Park which is off of East Pont des Mouton Road or at the Robicheaux Center on Eraste Landry Road.
This is an opportunity for residents of the city of Lafayette and the unincorporated areas to drop off excess things you have at home that don't fit into your garbage cart.
You can drop off old tires, appliances, carpet, etc.
You are limited to only five tires per person, and you must show your driver's license at the event.
Waste from businesses will not accepted. LCG Environmental Quality Manager Bess Foret says this is the time to get rid of old trash and junk that you don't want anymore.
There are several items that Lafayette Consolidated Government will NOT be accepting at their Debris Drop event. Those items include:
- Any power equipment with a gas engine
- Chemicals
- Automotive Batteries
- Compressed gas cylinders
If you have other questions about what will and will not be accepted you can go to lafayettela.gov or you can call the Environmental Quality office at 337-291-8529.
Environmental Quality Division Manager Bess Foret says,
"LCG wants to help citizens properly dispose of some items that you may not always get picked up curbside or that can't fit into your cart," stated LCG Environmental Quality Manager Bess Foret. "It's a great time to do some spring cleaning, and with the help of Republic Services, we are offering an option to dispose of old trash and junk."
