Very few voters actually went to vote in Youngsville this weekend, but 79 percent of those did vote in favor of a four-percent hotel tax.

There are no hotels or motels in Youngsville yet, but the new tax would generate money to be used for a variety of reasons.

The tax, generated from hotel/motel stays, will be used to construct, maintain, and operate the city's multipurpose community center.

The money will also fund economic development and tourism initiatives.
