Lafayette, LA.Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) will host an Open House for the public on December 9, 2010 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm.   The event will include a formal Ribbon Cutting at 2:30pm with the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce.  Door Prizes will be given away at 3:30pm and will include two signed and numbered “Hub City with Landscape” prints by Francis X. Pavy.  CFA will provide fresh baked holiday cookies, treats and hot chocolate. The public and media are invited to attend.   The event is sponsored by Paul Michael Company.  CFA’s recently launched “Giving Cards” (like retail gift cards but redeemable to nonprofits) can be ordered at the Open House – just in time for gifts for those who seem to have everything!

The purpose of the Open House and Ribbon Cutting is to invite Acadiana to join in CFA’s 10 Year Anniversary celebration, view the new building location, and learn more about CFA - the Foundation’s doors are always “open” to our community.  In its 10 years of service in Acadiana, CFA has given almost $20 million in grants to nonprofits in our community under the direction of its donors.  Anyone can “get started” at CFA by establishing a fund no matter the dollar amount.   CFA will manage and invest the fund, and a fund owner/donor can realize the potential to “grow” philanthropy in a modern way by making grants based upon fund earnings to charities they are passionate about.  Although each charity in Acadiana and beyond has a specific mission, CFA’s mission is broad – to increase giving and connect donors to causes they care about.  All contributions to funds are tax-deductible and there are many other advantages to streamlining giving through CFA.   CFA proves every day that increasing giving is the way to improve quality of life in Acadiana.
