Lafayette Man Wanted On Attempted Murder Charges
LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Police in Lafayette have issued a warrant for attempted second degree murder following a shooting Saturday morning.
Cpl. Paul Mouton, a Lafayette Police Department spokesperson, says officers were dispatched to a home on Goldman Street at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
"When officers arrived they discovered a 20-year-old male of Baton Rouge lying in the yard with a single gunshot wound to the chest," Mouton says.
Witnesses say the victim and 32-year-old Carl Phillips were having an argument. Phillips allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the chest before fleeing the scene, Mouton says.
The victim is listed in critical condition at a local hospital. If you have any information that may lead to the arrest of Phillips, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
