Born in 1909, Lawrence Brooks served in WWII as a member of the U.S. Army, according to 'CBS This Morning'.

When Brooks got a birthday phone call from Governor John Bel Edwards, the conversation ended with Edwards asking the veteran if there was anything he could do for him. Brooks answered the governor by telling him, "My roof is leaking".

As it turns out, faulty repairs after Hurricane Katrina left Brooks with a leaky roof that needed fixing. Governor Edwards had a Louisiana based team come together to fully replace Brooks roof, solving the leaking issues.

What a great lesson in taking advantage when help is offered. While the request by Brooks wasn't a very big one, it speaks volumes for Governor Edwards to make sure that this veteran was taken care by the time his 112th birthday rolls around.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Brooks, and enjoy your new roof!
