2 Dead In Fatal Crash On I-49 Service Road In Sunset

35-year-old Lacy Leger of Sunset, along with her 2-year-old passenger, died early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle fatal crash on the I-49 south service road at Zick Miller Road in St. Landry Parish.

Louisiana State Police investigators say a truck being driven by 48-year-old Michael Shane Guidry of Carencro, for reasons unknown, crossed the center line and struck Leger's vehicle as they were each headed in opposite directions on the road.

Both Leger and the young boy were properly restrained. So was a 16-year-old female who was sitting in the rear seat. She suffered serious injuries.

Guidry was unrestrained and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Troopers are analyzing toxicology samples and they suspect impairment on Guidry's part. Charges are pending.
