While we all want to hear about more things opening up and actually being back on in 2021, unfortunately, it is just not quite time yet to put on large-scale events like festivals.

On that note, the Rayne Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced on Thursday that the Rayne Frog Festival will not take place this year.

This year's festival was scheduled to take place in May, but for a second straight year will not happen.

“It is our goal to produce stellar events within our community and to be respectful to the Covid-19 guidelines as well as our generous sponsors,” the board’s announcement said. “With that being said, it is in the best interest to move forward with this extremely tough decision.”

That's the bad news. The good news is that next year the festival will be celebrating its 50th anniversary and organizers are planning for an even bigger event.

"We look forward to coming back bigger and better than ever!" the board said.
