SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Six members of the Louisiana Army National Guard 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team were welcomed home from Iraq at Fort Humbug in Shreveport.

The group arrived shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday to be greeted by friends and family.

The Times of Shreveport reports that the group was the first contingent of hundreds of soldiers who will return through the month. In January, the state unit known as the Tiger Brigade deployed approximately 3,000 troops to Iraq as it began its second tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
