71-Year-Old Sentenced For Sex Offense

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — A state district court judge has handed down the maximum sentence to a 71-year-old man who pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Judge Clayton Davis sentenced David Bird Tarver to 25 years in prison, without parole. Tarver pleaded guilty in August under an plea deal.

Prosecutors say Tarver, who was originally charged with three counts of sexual battery, one count of molestation and one count of indecent behavior, began molesting the girl when she was 11 years old.
