A New Music Venue Planned As Part Of Harrah’s Renovation
Permit plans were filed with the city of New Orleans for the construction of a new music venue on the second floor of Harrah's Casino on Canal Street. The existing building has always had a second floor, but it has remained mainly unused. The city, who owns the site, has long pushed for the space to be developed. Pictures filed along with the plans show a box office and entrance on the Canal street side of the building. Live Nation will reportedly operate the space, which will be called the Fillmore Theater.
According to The Advocate, state lawmakers voted in 2015 to allow people younger than 21 to access the building's second floor. Anyone under 21 is barred from the gambling area.
