Snakes on a plane... I thought this was only a movie or the start of a very bad nightmare. Not this time, it is being reported that a snake was actually on a plane.

Either way, this is a situation that actually happened earlier this week.

Passengers were on a United Airlines flight from Tampa to Newark when they noticed a slithering reptile had joined them in the cabin.

The plane was taxing down the runway at Newark International Airport on Monday when it was brought to the crew's attention that they had an unwanted guest on board.

“After being alerted by passengers, our crew called the appropriate authorities to take care of the situation,” a spokesperson for United Airlines told Nexstar.

The snake was determined to be a garter snake but the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey were still called in to remove the unwanted guest from the plane.

While only dogs and cats are allowed to travel in the cabin when space is available other animals are allowed onboard in designated areas.

While I would like to say that this is the first time a snake has found its way onboard a flight, it is not. This sort of thing tends to happen every once in a while.
