Legendary Swamp Pop Cajun icon Camey Doucet, 81, has written a fun new song that speaks to a very serious problem in the world...Coronavirus.

Doucet took over a month to write his new song, "The Coronavirus Song". He wrote a little at a time and when it was finished, he went into a small Acadiana studio to record the track using local musicians.  He hasn't sung onto a recording is some time but felt Acadiana and the world needed a song set to the times.

His objective was to use minimal musicians and instruments behind his vocals on the demo. He would like the rough demo to be completely re-recorded by a local or national band using his lyrics.

The Cajun Gentleman, born and raised in Crowley, Louisiana, believes "The Coronavirus Song" is a perfect fit for local band Jamie Bergeron & the Kickin' Cajuns to record. He hopes the band considers recording it, but would be happy if any band would record and distribute it.

It really is hard to believe, yet wonderful, that this Cajun French Music Association Hall of Famer is still writing and singing in this season of his life. Camey Doucet still has the pipes and an insatiable appetite for Cajun music.

He allowed us a peek into his new endeavor.
