NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The American Civil Liberties Union is seeking records from a north Louisiana school district about the handcuffing of students. In a news release, the ACLU said Monday it is seeking documents from the Caddo Parish School Board in Shreveport and from Walnut Hill Elementary and Middle School regarding any incidents involving the handcuffing of students. The ACLU says it's making the request in response to reports that a sixth-grader who had been struck by another student at a bus stop was handcuffed days later at school by police. A Caddo schools spokeswoman referred questions about the December incident to Shreveport police. A police spokesman said he would respond after gathering information about the Walnut Hill incident and security agreements involving schools.
