She has been a fixture on South Louisiana television sets for as long as I can remember. She is Agnes DeRouen and is quite recognizable for fans of KATC Television and KPLC Television in Lake Charles. DeRouen is set to be honored by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Department of Communication this Friday.

As part of the Spring Honors Banquet DeRouen will be bestowed the honor of the department's Outstanding Alumnae of 2019. That banquet will be held this Friday, May 2nd. The award is given to former graduates of the University who have excelled and contributed greatly to the field of communication.

DeRouen, who currently works as managing editor and Noon Anchor for KPLC in Lake Charles, has been the recipient of several industry awards. She has earned the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for special reporting. She has also captured numerous Associated Press Awards for her work in reporting and documentaries.

DeRouen a 1976 graduate of U.L. will be honored as part of ceremonies that take place Friday evening in the Atchafalaya Ball Room of the U.L. Student Union. Tickets for that event are still available.
