A mother is on the run after police say her 5-year-old child had to go to the hospital after the woman allegedly tried to steal from a Wal-Mart.

Houma police say 28-year-old Nakeisha White was trying to escape the store when she dropped the stolen goods, then threw her child into the bed of her pickup and sped off. That caused the child to flip out onto the parking lot pavement. White reportedly stopped, put the little girl back in the truck and roared off.

Hours later police were called to a local hospital where a child was being treated for a head wound. White was detained, but reportedly told officers she was pregnant and felt sick - using that as a ploy to escape again.

White's still at large, but wanted on multiple charges including cruelty to a juvenile.
