We really shouldn't act surprised. Spring is one of the most volatile weather seasons in Louisiana. This year's springtime weather has not been without its share of gusty winds, flooding, and large hail. We could be experiencing another round of all of that when the latest weather maker moves through the area on Thursday.

Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center have placed the entire state in the slight risk category for severe storms during the day and into the evening on Thursday. As of now, it looks as if our greatest threat will come in the form of gusty winds and heavy downpours.

The catalyst is a cold front that is expected to push across the area during the day on Thursday. That frontal system will encounter warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and that's a recipe for some potentially big thunderstorms.

Behind the front temperatures will cool down just a little and skies should clear out rapidly for Good Friday. The Easter Holiday weekend appears to be spectacular with plenty of sunshine and temperatures reaching to near 80 degrees by Easter Sunday.
