April 16 Louisiana COVID-19 Update
The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for April 16.
There are now 22,532 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. 5,968 tests have been completed by state labs and 120,618 tests have been reported by commercial labs. Numbers show that there are 1,914 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized with 396 of them on ventilators.
The total amount of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 1,159 with 64 deaths reported.
Lafayette Parish: 387 cases, 16 deaths
St. Martin Parish: 179 cases, 10 deaths
Iberia Parish: 164 cases, 6 deaths
St. Mary Parish: 134 cases, 8 deaths
St. Landry Parish: 118 cases, 17 deaths
Acadia Parish: 108 cases, 6 deaths
Evangeline Parish: 41 cases
Vermilion Parish: 28 cases, 1 death
There is more widespread representation throughout the state as all 64 parishes now have at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 1,156. New Orleans continues to be the hardest-hit area of the state. The next update is due out tomorrow at noon.
