(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Officials with the Lafayette Police Department have announced the arrest of a man for allegedly shooting at another vehicle as both cars were driving down the Evangeline Thruway Thursday just after 12 a.m.

According to the Spokeswoman for the department, Sergeant Robin Green, the victim says he and his friend were in their vehicle stopped on the Thruway at its intersection with East Willow when another vehicle drove up next to them.

The victim says the suspect told him he was following him and he produced a handgun which he pointed at them, so the victim got scared and fled the scene.

As far as a motive, and what started this situation, we do not know. We do know the people in each car did not know each other.
