ATV Crash Claims Church Point Woman’s Life

Tuesday night an ATV crashed on Louisiana Highway 370 near St. Clair Road in Acadia Parish that sent two people to an area hospital.

State Police says the woman, 20-year-old Taylor Chapman, died the following day.

For reasons that are still being investigated, 19-year-old Casey Lavergne was westbound on Highway 370 when he lost control of the four wheeler, hit a street sign, and he was thrown off of the four wheeler.

The four wheeler kept running, hit a ditch, overturned, and Taylor Chapman was thrown from the vehicle.

Both were taken to the hospial, and Chapman succumbed to her injuries Wednesday.

State Police says impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
