BBB Warns – Be Aware Of Odometer Tampering If Buying New Car
The BBB of Acadiana says if you're buying a new car you should be aware of odometer tampering. According to the BBB one in ten used vehicles are sold with 'rolled back' odometers. With the advent of digital odometers it has become easier to roll back odometers by hacking into car computers.
The BBB recommends that you do some math when buying a used car. The industry standard claims the average car accumulates approximately 12,000 miles per year. If the car you are planning to buy has excessively low mileage you should try to find out why.
According to the BBB American car buyers lose over a $1 billion to odometer fraud.
