The Better Business Bureau of Acadiana warns of an old IRS scam. The scam has been tweaked a bit to reflect the growing Latino population in Acadiana. According to the BBB the scammers are targeting Spanish speaking people and demanding payment to avoid being arrested. A second variation of the scam involves a victim getting a call in Spanish telling them they have a refund coming but will have to send money to collect the refund.

The BBB reminds you that the IRS always sends a letter to notify you of any tax problem and never calls, sends texts or emails.

If you are unsure if the IRS is really trying to reach you call 1-800-829-1040.

Remember don't give out your social security number or banking information to a caller.
