I have never had bad boudin during my twenty plus years in South Louisiana. I have, however, had better boudin from time to time. Just who makes the best boudin in South Louisiana? We'll attempt to find that out this Saturday at the 11th Annual Boudin Cook-off in Downtown Lafayette's Parc San Souci.

The event is free. However, if you'd like to sample the boudin and for the love of God why would you come to a boudin cookoff and not eat, it will cost you at least $5. Your five dollars gets you eight tickets and that allows you to sample and vote on which boudin you believe to be the best.

The Boudin Cook-off will begin at 10 AM with boudin sampling, face painting, fun jumps, and other activities at Parc San Souci. The Boudin Ball eating contest, the only one of its kind in the state, will begin at 11 AM. The winners of the people's choice and other honors will be announced at 4 PM.

The cookoff will also feature several live musical acts performing on stage. Among the performers will be The Specklers, Alligator Blue, and The Babineaux Sisters. The cook-off benefits the Preservation Alliance of Lafayette.
