All slingshot rides across the state of Florida are currently closed after two teens had to be rescued from a slingshot ride that left them approximately 40 feet in the air after a cable broke.

Osceola Tower 72 and City of Kissimmee Fire Department Tower 11 performed a high-angle rescue of the two teens left stranded by the malfunctioning ride.

According to the Florida Department of Agriculture, all four slingshot rides in the state have been closed. For spring breakers in Kissimmee, Orlando, Daytona Beach and Panama City Beach that means no slingshot riding, pending an investigation.

The ride has a safety feature that lowers riders in the event of a malfunction. However, the ride will not allow riders to be lowered all the way to the ground when something goes wrong. This is to protect riders from hitting the ground.

Neither teen needed medical attention. Both were brought to the ground safely.
