Snow covered much of the Gulf Coast this week, and let's be honest, we just aren't equipped for this type of weather.

Sure, we can handle hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, but when it comes to snow and ice, we lack the proper equipment.

Knowing that forecasts called for ice and snow this week, many communities did their best to prepare for the threat of ice on the roads, and in Louisiana, we saw crew members of the Department of Transportation and Development did their best to salt roads before they froze over.

In the Sunshine State, like here, they too aren't equipped to combat ice on the roads and a video on social media shows crew members salting a road in Pensacola Beach, Florida putting salt on the roads by hand.

Two workers were perched on the tailgate of a truck and as it went down the road, the men were seen tossing salt on the road. The salt was being tossed on the roadway in hopes that it would prevent it from freezing over.

We don't know if this practice was successful, but we applaud the efforts of these men before this historic winter storm. This is an area that many of us love to visit during the summer months, so it is odd to see workers having to do this.

Here's the video that has many shaking their heads, while others are applauding the efforts of these men hours before the winter storm drooped several inches of snow along many beach communities.

To be fair, we've seen similar videos from Lafayette, Louisiana that show men tossing salt on the roads by hand to prevent freezing.

Here are a few more looks of snow on the beaches of Florida this week, who would have ever thought that we'd witness this? Oh, 2025!

Check out this amazing video of snow falling along the Emerald Gulf Coast. In August we'll still be thinking of this exact video.
