Cajundome Awaiting Approval For Cajun Heartland State Fair Safety Plan
Last week, we told you that the Cajun Heartland State Fair would be returning to the Cajundome in May.
Cajundome officials tell us while they plan to hold the event this year, they are still awaiting final approval of their open safely plan. Cajundome marketing director Casey White tells KPEL that Cajundome officials submitted that plan to the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Louisiana Department of Health last week. White says a final decision should be coming within the next week.
According to White, the grounds of the Cajun Heartland State Fair would have to be fenced in--something the Cajundome already does for the fair. White also says the guidelines require fair officials to actively monitor how many people are on the fairgrounds at one time. In addition, White says the Cajundome will have to follow cleaning protocols--including sanitizing rides and putting out hand sanitizer dispensers--and place six-foot separation markings for ride lines.
If the plan is approved, the fair will take place from May 27 through June 6th.
