It was a business trip to Starkville, Mississippi for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns but the 16th ranked team in the nation had other plans. The Bulldogs were as advertised as they rolled the Cajuns on Saturday evening 56-10.

The problem for the Cajuns wasn't moving the football, early in this game it was missed opportunities, not able to execute the way they wanted to, and unable to make some plays. They started fast as new kicker Kyle Pfau knocked through a 38-yard field goal and they had the lead 3-0 but that wouldn't last long.

From there on out it would be all Mississippi State and the Nick Fitzgerald show as the Bulldogs put up 49 unanswered points on the Cajuns and scored on all seven of their first drives. In addition, quarterback Nick Fitzgerald had one heck of a night as he rushed for 107 yards, four touchdowns, threw for 243 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

Andre Nunez played well and showed that he will be the starter moving forward. He went 21/29 on the night with one touchdown and one interception. UL had trouble running the football as Trey Ragas was the only one who had any sort of success (7 carries for 49 yards), I think this team will run the ball better against Sun Belt opponents.

The Cajuns had their chances in this game but there was a clear difference between these two teams and you knew there would be.

Louisiana (1-1) will be back at home to open up their Sun Belt Conference season against Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m. next Saturday.
