Sherricka Fields Jones, recently confirmed by the City Council as Shreveport's new Chief Administrative Officer, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about her background in city government, the challenges facing the new Perkins administration and the importance of streamlining the city's finances.

Fields Jones tells KEEL listeners that "the city of Shreveport is like a big business. We need sound finances to be able to operate smoothly." Fields Jones says that currently, the city's finances "are strong." But the woman who served as assistant CAO for the two previous mayors adds, "But as you know, we've been talking about is...that we have just a few days in the operating reserve. But we are projecting a $3 million operating reserve at the end of this year" Fields Jones also notes that building the reserve "is going to take some very tough decisions."
