Charter Commission Vote[Audio]
The Lafayette Charter Commission could decide Monday night whether to recommend that the city of Lafayette have it's own government.
Charter Commission member Bruce Conque tells KPEL's Suzanne Ferrara the commission is currently leaning towards recommending a separate city of Lafayette government.
The commission may be granted more time to review options including a third proposal which calls for a nine member council that would include five "city" council members that would vote on city-only issues. The commission has until April 13th to make a recommendation to the city-parish council. The council will decide how to place the commission's recommendation on the ballot for voters.
