LAPLACE, La. (AP) — The Coast Guard rescued two people and their cat in LaPlace.

A Coast Guard spokesman said Murry Daniels and his wife were hoisted aboard a helicopter Thursday evening from their flooded building in Frenier Landing.

The couple and their pet were brought back to the Coast Guard Air Station in good condition.

Coast Guard search and rescue crews continue to search the greater New Orleans area for people in distress after Hurricane Isaac passed through the area.
