Cockfighting Ring Busted

One man was arrested and Officials anticipate several more arrests will be made when deputies in Assumption Parish discovered a cockfighting ring in the backyard of a Bayou L'Ourse home Saturday. Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Maguespack says they receieved a tip that the illegal activity was going on and sent in an undercover officer. Waguespack says there was evidence that rooster fighting had been going on and blood spattered in at least two areas where the men were gathered. Waguespack says the man who claimed he owned the dead roosters that were found, 36 year old Ismael Trevino Jr, took responsibility for organizing the event and was arrested. Sheriff Waguespack says more arrests will be made.
