Some people in St. Martinville have been getting duped with counterfeit "prop money" and authorities want you to be prepared for it.

St. Martinville Police Department Public Information Officer Adam Touchet says this "prop money," used for motion picture purposes, is being used in online exchanges of goods such as video game equipment and cell phones within the city.

The St. Martinville Police Department advises that the exchange of goods from Facebook Marketplace, or similar services, be conducted at SMPD’s safe exchange location. SMPD’s Safe Exchange Location is monitored twenty-four hours a day by surveillance cameras and these locations are proven to deter scam artists across the nation.
