Northwestern State University researcher Julie Delabbio believes she may have found a way to help crawfish farmers produce more and bigger crawfish. She says using underwater lights at night dramatically improves  production.  She says using solar powered LED lights would be the most cost effective way farmers could boost their per-acre yield. Delabbio says the work she's done over the last three years found lit ponds produce 800 to 1000 pounds of crawfish per acre compared to 500 to 600 pounds in unlit ponds.
