The Crowley Police Department is warning local businesses of a new credit card scam. Some local businesses have received phone calls from someone who claims to be with the Crowley Police Department that needs to verified some credit card information. The incoming call to the business has caller ID blocked.

Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson advises,

If you or your business receives a call from someone claiming to be from the Crowley Police Department regarding a request for information and you have not filed a complaint for investigation, do not provide any information. Our investigators will come out and meet with complainants. Detectives will never call over the phone for sensitive information, especially credit card numbers,

If you have any information regarding this scam you're asked to call Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish. You could receive up to a $1,000 cash reward.
