Deputies Say Woman Severely Beaten

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 31-year-old John Williams Sunday morning for allegedly severely beating a woman at a home in Bayou Vista.

Deputies say they found the woman had severe injuries to her head and face.

Detectives say they found evidence that Williams had repeatedly hit the woman's head against a wall.

They added that Williams refused to allow the woman to leave.

Deputies tracked down Williams on his bicycle in Morgan City.

He was arrested on the following charges:

• Second degree battery
• Domestic abuse battery
• False imprisonment

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
