DOT Awards Grant Money to Acadiana Shipbuilder

Congressman Charles Boustany announced Friday the Department of Transportation has awarded grant money to one Acadiana shipbuilding company.

A press release from Boustany's office stated the DOT awarded $582,410.00 to Metal Shark Aluminum Boats in Jeanerette.

The shipyard is the number one supplier of small custom aluminum boats for the United States Coast Guard and a leading supplier for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and many allied partners throughout the world.

“Louisiana’s shipbuilders are renowned throughout the world for a commitment to engineering excellence and innovation," Boustany said via press release. "This grant will ensure this Jeanerette shipyard is fully equipped to continue to supply our armed forces, local and state governments, and many commercial partners with the high-quality product Louisiana manufacturing is known for.”
